Ballet Folklórico Tapatío Company of Northwest Indiana is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization located in Portage, IN. Our mission is to preserve cultural heritage by using the performing arts as a means of teaching our youth about Mexico's history and traditions, and also to promote public awareness of Mexican heritage by showcases traditional music, dances and dress, thereby fostering an appreciation for and understanding of the culture.
The group hosts an annual Hispanic Heritage event called Fiesta Folklórica, one of the only Hispanic Heritage events in Porter County and perhaps the biggest event in Porter County. Lynch invites professional groups to perform with her dance students. Past artists have included the Mexican Folkloric Dance Co. of Chicago, Fiesta Mexicana Dance Co. of Arizona, the Ballet Folklorico Nacional of Milwaukee, Mariachi singer Salvador Villanueva of Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento fame and local mariachi band the Mariachi Acero of East Chicago.
The group has been fortunate to have been mentored and taught by Fiesta Mexicana Dance Company of Arizona under the leadership of Daniel Martinez.
